Guild member Germaine Koh has started up a research project at UBC that is aimed at cultivating a regional flax-to-linen industry that is based in small-scale and community production. Join us at Germaine’s barn at 270 Trustees Trail Saturday September 5 from 1:30 to 4:30. In this workshop, guild members who have grown flax this season can process their crop into flax fibre, Germaine will discuss and demo the processing steps and goals of the research, and participants can pick up seeds to plant next year to be part of the growing regional network of flax farmers. Seeds are courtesy of Germaine’s research partners Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
