We are invited by theTsouhalem Spinners and Weavers Guild in Duncan to join them and spinners from across Vancouver Island at St. Peter’s Church Hall. This annual event goes from 9.30 to 4 and costs only $10, which (I assume) will include many kinds of delicious soup. If you don’t have a wheel they suggest that you take something else to work on. We usually carpool for this, so please put it on your calendar and find out who else is going. What is a distaff you may wonder. It’s a stick or spindle on which wool or flax is wound for spinning. Distaff Day was traditionally the day after Epiphany, January 7th, when women used to return to spinning after a Christmas break. For our convenience it is always held locally on a Saturday, hence January 3rd, 2026.
